The ASME Mechanical Engineering Education (MEEd) Summit was launched in 1989 and is the only conference specifically designed for mechanical engineering and engineering technology educators and leaders, from academia, industry, and government, that takes an in-depth look at the current and future challenges and opportunities impacting mechanical engineering education.
ASME uses its Mechanical Engineering Department Heads (MEDH) digital platform to keep academic leaders up-to-date on the changing needs of industry and to share employment and professional development opportunities.
In addition to MEEd, another principal forum for transforming engineering education is through the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET). ABET accredits college and university programs in the disciplines of applied and natural science, computing, engineering, and engineering technology at the associate, bachelor’s and master’s degree levels. ASME in partnership with ABET selects and trains the program evaluators for mechanical engineering programs globally.
